Our Story:
Hi! My name is LaTia McNeely-Sandiford,"The House of Bonnet Bucket™️, Creative Director and Founder. Like many other great inventions,The Bonnet Bucket™ was created out of a need and creativity.
Lol, as a conscious Artist, I often think of eco-friendly solutions to common everyday problems. On June 1, 2026, I was scheduled to attend the Ribbon Cutting ceremony of Aulo Spa, in Newark, New Jersey, the city's first Black Owned Social Spa. The theme of the event was beach chic in neutral color tones.
Neutral earth tones are my wheelhouse. My flowing monochromatic sand color maxi dress paired with a block heal Chocolate Brown Raffia slides, brushed bronze accent jewelry and oversized brown shades were perfect this event. However, after days of searching, I could not find the right handbag to match (I'm a Leo, coordination is a must), but, I came across a hat that matched perfectly. Immediately, my artist brain went into overdrive. Lol, I couldn't sleep for days. I had a central question that I needed to answer. What if that hat could be a handbag? Yet, still remain useful as a hat. I could potentially have two additional accessories to coordinate with these beautiful shoes. This was a problem I needed to solve. At the time, I purchased two hats with the intention of deconstructing one to begin my creative process of designing a dual system that would allow for both the handbag and hat. While the handbag was and continues to be my primary accessory, I believe fashion should fluid, giving a woman options with maximum functionality.
The inability to find a matching handbag gave way to an idea that launched The House of Bonnet Bucket™, a dual purpose handbag hat that easily converts to a hat using a patent pending design technique. From the beach by day, to a deck party at night, styled with one accessory.
Fashion Forward. Eco-Friendly. Practical. Functional
That's what fashion is supposed to be and a woman's personal style should lead that process. I hope you love "The BBuci" as much as I do, lol.
